SUMMARY:VIRTUAL EVENT- Managing the Impact of Covid in the HBCU Community
DESCRIPTION:Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) faced unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to traditional challenges faced sustaining an HBCU\, its leaders must now incorporate a COVID-19 strategy to maintain campus health while ensuring business continuity. However\, what is particularly challenging to HBCU leaders and the communities they serve is their historical context of scarce resources and chronic underfunding. Resources range from finances to actual physical space to deliver health services\, which include vaccines. The purpose of this webinar is to assess the management of COVID-19 at HBCUs and determine their needs for the sustainment of campus health. \nLEARN MORE \nREGISTER FOR EVENT

SUMMARY:VIRTUAL EVENT- COVID-19: Engaging Communities Equitably in the Recovery Process
DESCRIPTION:During the COVID-19 pandemic\, issues of community engagement and health equity emerged as critical areas of focus. Throughout this period\, Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) serves as the engagement lead on several NIH COVID-19 projects. Most recently\, CCPH has partnered with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as the community engagement lead on a new initiative called RECOVER.\n\nNIH launched RECOVER in 2021 to address the long-term effects of the SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19. This national research effort brings together scientists\, clinicians\, patients\, caregivers\, community members\, and other partners to identify the causes for and means to prevent and treat post-COVID conditions and symptoms\, including what is commonly called Long COVID or long-haul COVID.\n\nCCPH has recruited Dr. Natasha Williams and Dr. Tony Minor to present for a special webinar on Long COVID and community engagement. Join us for this opportunity to hear first-hand about the work on Long COVID and opportunities for community engagement. We also hope to hear from individuals who are or have experienced Long COVID.\n\n\nLEARN MORE\nREGISTER FOR THE EVENT

SUMMARY:A Community-Engaged Approach to COVID-19 Testing in African-American Churches
DESCRIPTION:Community-Campus Partnerships for Health and Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics – Underserved Populations (RADx-UP) present:\n\nA Community-Engaged Approach to COVID-19 Testing in African-American Churches\n\nCommunity-based participatory research (CBPR) is an innovative approach to combating health inequities through robust partnerships\, community mobilization\, and responsiveness to community-identified needs and assets. This webinar will describe a faith-based partnership that utilizes principles of CBPR to combat COVID-19 among African-Americans in Kansas City\, MO. We will explore best practices for engaging community members in the research process as well as the role that faith-based organizations can serve in COVID-19 testing and prevention.\n\nThis webinar will highlight the work of the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) in partnership with the Clergy Response Network (CRN) and the Calvary Community Outreach Network (CCON) to deliver COVID-19 testing in African-American churches. The project is part of the NIH-funded RADx-UP network\, a consortium of over 100 community-based COVID-19 testing projects across the U.S. Learn more about RADx-UP at radx-up.org. \n\n\nLEARN MORE\n\nREGISTER FOR EVENT

SUMMARY:VIRTUAL EVENT- Pivoting for Success: Using Community-Based Participatory Research During the Twin Pandemics
DESCRIPTION:A virtual round-table of community Community-Based Participatory Research(CBPR) practitioners discussing how pivots have been essential during the twin pandemics of COVID-19 and racial injustice to continue advancing the work. We will explore how panelists have handled the challenges and found opportunities to rapidly develop new partnerships and sustain long-standing ones using a CBPR approach. \nThe twin pandemics\, known as COVID-19 and institutionalized racism\, have continued to shine light on the numerous inequities and disparities in communities across the world. As the pandemics continue with the rise of the Omicron variant\, it is critical that we understand the essential pivots community and academic CBPR practitioners have implemented to advance the work towards health equity.  This virtual roundtable seeks to share best practices to overcome challenges and explore successes to rapidly develop new partnerships using a CBPR approach. \nLEARN MORE\nREGISTER FOR EVENT

SUMMARY:VIRTUAL EVENT- Improving African Immigrant Health Series Part II: A Photovoice Examining the Impact of COVID-19 on African Immigrants Living in New England
DESCRIPTION:African immigrants have been uniquely affected by the coronavirus crisis. Social\, cultural\, and systemic factors place African immigrants at greater risk of both acquiring coronavirus and experiencing severe symptoms or death related to COVID-19. However\, to date\, information is not being systematically collected and translated to support the real-time development of effective\, culturally\, and linguistically appropriate COVID-19 interventions. Sauti is a photovoice project conducted to document challenges experienced by African immigrants during the pandemic and capture effective coping and support mechanisms used by African immigrants living in New England. This webinar will present recommendations for healthcare providers and researchers to improve African immigrants’ engagement in COVID-19 prevention\, treatment\, and care.\n\n\n[REGISTER NOW]\n[LEARN MORE]

SUMMARY:Webinar - Improving African Immigrant Health Through Research and Action
DESCRIPTION:African immigrants in the United States are one of the fastest-growing immigrant communities. Too often their experiences are lumped in with the experiences of US-born Black Americans. Because of language\, culture\, the impact of migration\, and other factors\, African immigrants have needs and stories distinctively different from US-born Black Americans. This discussion will provide an overview on African immigrant health. It will also seek to highlight current research and increase awareness of the need for community-led research that supports service delivery and advocacy.\n\n***Speakers TBA\n\nLearn More
