Kunga Denzongpa, PhD, MPH
Bio
Kunga Denzongpa, PhD, MPH recently completed her doctoral training in public health with an emphasis on community health education from the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG). She received her Master’s in Public Health from UNCG as well. As a Sikkimese-Himalayan tribal minority raised in a collective community, her passion is rooted in equitable approaches to community and health. As such, research during her doctoral training centered on examining maternal health outcomes among racially and ethnically minoritized women.
She also worked as a public health fellow at Guilford College where she assisted the college’s health and safety taskforce to address the COVID-19 pandemic and promote healthy practices and policies on campus. At CCPH, she aims to utilize her expertise in community health education program development and implementation. Social justice is a crucial praxis for her equity-centered health research and hopes to incorporate innovative community-engaged approaches to health equity among racially and ethnically minoritized communities.
